A day in El Puerto de Santa Maria!

My original plan this summer was to have family field trips every Saturday, our way to go and explore something new every week.  We have done this one Saturday so far.  Other than that, Saturdays seem to be the day to get things done around the house.  I sometimes have to remind myself that we live here and this isn't just a vacation, we will be here for three years!  And life goes on as normal, even when we are living in Spain, so laundry still has to get done and the house still has to get cleaned...bummer I know!

All this being said, this particular Saturday in July we did manage to get out of the house and go on an adventure into Puerto de Santa Maria.  Puerto is the town that boarders the base to the south, while Rota is to the north.  We parked and walked around, and discovered a very fun park for children...and adults too!

I think the parents had just as much fun as the kids!
The big kids made it move so fast the little kids flew off!

Big kids at it again, Brian and our friend Matt!

My little climbers, neither has any fear!
After we played in the park for a while, we went and found a nice place for lunch.  So many places to choose from, but luckily we went with friends who had a place in mind.  After lunch we continued our walk and made our way to Castillo De San Marcos.  The castle was not open, but the kids ran around the little square and the dads relaxed!  The marble in the square was very slippery, the kids kept falling.  It was a nice fun day, and will be a place we go back to and expore more!
