Day in Jerez and Vejer

We decided to take a day trip to show the camp adventure lifeguards a little bit of southern Spain.  We went to Jerez first, and actually lucked out and the castle was open and free!  Then we got churros and chocolate and headed to Vejer for Moroccan food and a walk.  We had a late lunch and an adventure, that unfortunately ended up with Luke in the ER for a broken elbow.  We had a fun day, kids running around, eating and playing.

Sunflowers!

The last night my parents were here we took a drive to take a few pictures of the sunflowers!  The sunflower fields during June and July are beautiful, yellow fields everywhere!



Shawn's special birthday!

The main reason for the visit from Nina and Poppop was really Shawn's birthday.  He has been talking about this day since we moved here over two years ago.  Today, he turned 9 on the 9th...aka his special birthday!  All he wanted were Nina and Poppop to be here!  So, they made it happen!  Although he had to go to summer enrichment again on his birthday, he had a great day.  Treats at school and then a family dinner and neighbor friends over for brownies!  One happy boy!  Can't believe he is 9, he is growing up so fast.



Summer visit from Nina and Poppop....Granada here we come!

Nina and Poppop came to visit and see Spain in the summertime!  My mom wanted to make sure she made it to Granada on this trip...so we made it happen!  They got here on July 4th, and we left the next day on our family adventure!  We booked an apartment, and the kids loved it as soon as they saw the cool bunkbeds!  And I must say, there were a great way to utilize the space!  So, mission number one, the Alhambra.  We booked tickets for a morning visit the next day.  We made sure we knew how to get up there and picked up our tickets when we arrived.  We enjoyed the walk back down and the kids found a fun little park to play in!   The Alhambra is really amazing, I don't think any pictures do it justice.  The kids did good as it was a long morning.  So, that afternoon, Shawn, Daddy, and Poppop did a segway tour!  It is fair to say they had a great time!  That evening mom and I took a walk or hike to get a sunset view of the Alhambra, amazing and worth the hike!  It was a hot couple days, but we all had a good time!
