4th of July celebration 2013

This is the beginning of the lasts for our time here in Spain, as we are entering our last year here.  So, our last 4th of July celebration was a huge success again!  Kids had a blast, with new water slides this year.  And we stayed for the fireworks too!  I have loved our celebrations here and will miss them, but I also look forward to taking our kids to see the fireworks in Washington D.C. like I used to do when I was a kid.  Looks like there is a 99% chance that is where we are headed after Spain, going home!

Belgium in June!

We took a quick trip to Belgium once the kids finished school.  We took in the beautiful scenery of Gent and Brugge, enjoyed plenty of french fries, or "frites," and belgian waffles.  In Gent we took a canal boat tour, which the kids loved!  In Brugge we climbed a tower, went to a chocolate museum, rented bikes and took them for a ride into the country side, and finished the day with a carraige ride through town.  Brugge was my favorite, wish we had a little more time there.  The next day we met the Coburns at a zoo called Pairi Diaza!  The zoo was beautiful and the kids were able to have very close encounters with some of the animals.  Matt's close encounter was a little different than the rest of us...as he leapt into the merrkat habitat to retrieve eye glasses, he got bit!  Scary and funny all at the same time!  The day we left we made a quick stop at Waterloo, Shawn is turning into a history buff like his daddy!  Another fun adventure!
